'X-Men: Apocalypse' trailer review: 'Mahabharata' and Krishna references make the new villain all too familiar
Talking about the research and story line, the new villain Apocalypse, seems to be inspired by the character of Krishna from Hindu mythology. In the starting the character says, "I've been called many things in many lifetimes- Ra, Krishna, Yahweh." So, the makers have drawn direct inspiration from Hindu blue god 'Krishna', making him the one who changed the human genetics.
If mythology is to be believed, Krishna did possess many 'superhuman' qualities, thus justifying Singer's imagination. Plus, the way this mutant is carrying himself around with a troop of four followers, manipulating minds with his tactful voice and declaring the world to come to an end so that a better one could rise from the ashes, very evidently points towards the Govinda Shauri that we know from Hindu epic 'Mahabharat'. Krishna was the key that brought the end of one world to begin another called 'Kaliyug', hence Apocalypse fits in Hindu god's shoes perfectly!
Krishna can be touted as one of the most flexible character many contemporary writers have been using according to their imaginations, be it books or films. He was calculative, focused, tactful and had immense knowledge about the world. A warrior in true sense, this is the first time a major franchise has decided to use the grey shades of our beloved Krishna and paint them in a villainous figure.
Another interesting point is Professor X might become the 'Parth' of X-Men's Krishna (note the scene were his mind discovers 'immense' power)
This new threat to the world looks interesting, familiar and powerful, making 'X-Men: Apocalypse' one of the most awaited film of next year
