Dark Knight trilogy star Christian Bale (Batman) has made it absolutely clear: he's done playing the character – he will not be in this film.
DC Entertainment will re-cast the role; Ben Affleck ultimately won the role.
As stated in Frank Miller's 1986 comic book, "The Dark Knight Returns," in which Batman battles Superman:
"I want you to remember, Clark. In all the years to come.
In all your most private moments.
I want you to remember my hand at your throat.
I want you to remember the one man who beat you."
Principal photography will take place on location
at Michigan Motion Picture Studios and on location in and around Detroit, Michigan; Illinois; Africa; and the South Pacific.
